Fear and Control
Fear has a way of shrinking our world, doesn’t it?
It narrows our vision until all we can see is the thing we dread, the outcome we cannot control, or the future we cannot guarantee. Fear pulls our minds into constant rehearsal: What if this happens? What if I fail? What if God does not come through in the way I hope?
When Life Feels Big and God Feels Small
There are moments in life when everything feels loud and heavy. The pressure builds, the unknowns stack up, and what we are facing begins to feel all-consuming. It is not hard in those moments to believe that what is in front of us is too big, too complicated, or too overwhelming to carry. Our perspective narrows, and without even realizing it, our problems begin to feel central while God feels distant.
When Fear Takes Over: How the Gospel Meets Us in Anxiety
The Bible has a great deal to say about fear and anxiety, not because God is disappointed in anxious people, but because He knows how easily our hearts drift there. Scripture repeatedly speaks into our fears with invitations to trust the character of God.
Jesus Himself said: “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life… Look at the birds of the air… your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” —Matthew 6:25–26
For the One Who Feels Distant from God
Have you ever thought, “Why do I feel so far from God?”
You read your Bible. You pray. You show up at church. And yet something feels distant. The warmth you once knew feels cold. The nearness you used to sense feels far away. You still believe the truth, but you don’t feel it.
God Is Good. But What About This?
Yet for many of us, that confession becomes more complicated when God’s goodness collides with our lived experience. When the pregnancy test is negative again.
When singleness stretches longer than we expected.
When the marriage feels distant.
When anxiety lingers longer than you thought it would.
How People Change
Have you ever wondered why real change feels so hard, even when you know the right things, believe the gospel, and genuinely want to grow?
Most of us assume change happens by trying harder, fixing our behavior, or getting our circumstances under control.
Life in the Flesh or the Spirit?
Paul is describing two fundamentally different orientations of the heart—two ruling powers that shape how we interpret reality, respond to suffering, and relate to God.
Born to Take Our Place
When we speak of Jesus being born, we often say that He came to save us from our sins. But if we stop there, we miss the fullness of what the incarnation truly means.
Jesus didn’t only come to die for us.
He came to live for us.
Awe of God: The Pathway to True Thanksgiving
Awe is the deep, heart-level sense of wonder, reverence, and worship that rises when you see God for who He truly is.
It is the inward response of being captivated, humbled, and moved by His greatness, goodness, and glory.
For the One Who Feels Overwhelmed
Feeling overwhelmed is a state of emotional and cognitive overload. It usually happens when the weight of life’s demands exceeds what we feel able to manage or control.
Perfectionism: 4 Common Roots
Perfectionism is the pursuit of flawlessness or control to secure identity, worth, or peace. It’s not simply a personality trait. It’s a heart posture that says: “If I can perform, achieve, or control everything perfectly, then I’ll be safe, approved, and at rest.”
Understanding the Heart, Thoughts, and Emotions God’s Way
We live in a world that tells us to “follow your heart,” “control your thoughts,” and “don’t let emotions rule you.” But few of us have ever stopped to ask: What actually are my heart, thoughts, and emotions, and how do they relate to my walk with God?
Scripture presents a deeply integrated picture of the inner life—one that’s richer and more cohesive than any self-help strategy.
What Does It Mean to Truly Be a Disciple?
Have you ever wondered: Am I simply believing in Jesus, or am I living as His disciple?
In John 8:31–32, Jesus speaks directly to this tension. He is addressing people who had already believed in Him, but He draws a clear line between casual belief and genuine discipleship. Let’s look at His words carefully…
No Room for Lukewarm Christianity
I want to speak plainly to you today. We are living in a time where half-hearted Christianity will not stand. The world around us is darkening, and unless God brings about a great revival, we will continue to see the moral and spiritual decline of humanity.
A Response to the Charlie Kirk Assassination and All the Evil We See in the World
Everything is fractured. Everything is marred by sin and evil. Even our most joyous moments will not compare to the true joy we will experience in the presence of Jesus.
Are you struggling to Trust in the Lord?
If we’ve talked for a while, chances are you’ve heard me tell the Henri Nouwen story about the trapeze! I like to share it because of how much of an impact it made on my thinking and understanding this “With God” kind of life. Today, I’d like to share with you again (or maybe for the first time) in hope that it will encourage your soul.
Afraid of the Pain: Facing Suffering Through the Lens of Hope
Isn’t it true that much of our worry doesn’t come from what’s happening in our lives right now, but from what might happen? We spiral when we think about illness, loss, financial trouble, or rejection. We ask ourselves the quiet question:
“What’s the worst thing that could happen if this comes true?”
Why Thought Renewal Takes Time
Changing the way you think isn’t about willpower or positive thinking. It’s a deep, spiritual process—one that touches your emotions, your relationships, and your story.
Lies like “I’ll never be enough” usually didn’t form overnight. They were shaped over years—through pain, patterns, and repetition. So it makes sense that replacing them with God’s truth won’t be instant either.
What does it mean to Seek First the Kingdom?
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33
What Does it Really Mean to Trust God?
We often assume that trust will feel like peace, clarity, confidence, or joy. And sometimes, it does. But the truth is: trust is not an emotion—it’s a posture.
You can trust God with tears in your eyes, confusion in your mind, and no emotional certainty in your chest.
Trust is choosing to lean on what is true—even when your emotions or circumstances scream otherwise.
